Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time, limited duration (a maximum of 20 hours per week for up to 12 weeks during the summer) Student Intern position for the Evaluation and Reporting team for Oregon State University's (OSU) Division of Extension and Engagement. The internship will be based in Corvallis, Oregon although a hybrid or remote work may also be acceptable.
This internship is part of the OSU Extension Service Internship Program, which offers a rewarding service-learning experience and allows you to gain valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit you in your academic program and in your future career. Our paid internship program is intended to:

The Extension Evaluation and Reporting Student Internship may be of interest to students with:
- Academic interests including social science and community-based programming as well as interests that lie within the multi-disciplinary nature of the OSU Extension Service such as agriculture, natural resources and human sciences
- Potential interest in evaluation, applied research and/or Extension-based career
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytic skills
- Experience and/or interest in learning to use qualitative data collection and analysis methods
- Interest in continuing to learn and grow professionally
- The desire and ability to work as a team member
Interns can receive credit for their internship experience but must coordinate with their college internship coordinator prior to applying.
As an OSU Extension Evaluation and Reporting Student Intern, you will work with the Director of Evaluation and Reporting and other Extension colleagues, engaging in a variety of internal program evaluation activities, including 1) assembly of evaluation-related materials for internal use and; 2) participation in evaluation activities for selected specific projects. There will be flexibility as to the project(s) to which the intern would contribute. Specific projects include activities that are intended to support: a) fire-adapted communities programming; b) community food systems advocacy efforts; c) programming to support adoption of agricultural plastics waste technology in rural communities; d) support for programs that engage underrepresented youth in agriculture and STEM. The evaluation associated with these projects predominantly rely on qualitative methods and data.

- Contributes to the development of evaluation resources (e.g., intranet and training materials) for supporting Extension faculty and staff evaluation activities
- Participates in Extension project-specific data collection and/or analysis activities that may result in a report or publication
- Participates in meetings where Evaluation & Reporting projects and strategies are identified and prioritized, and/or developed.
- Seeks information from mentors and colleagues regarding the history, purpose and mission of the Oregon State University Extension Service and its Evaluation & Reporting unit.
- May identify and develop a new process, template or tool that could be implemented within the unit's current operations. This contribution should provide a substantial addition to the intern's resume as practical and applicable work experience.
- Participates in regular check-ins and professional development opportunities
- Documents internship experiences to complete the required record of internship. Completes and submits interim and final record of internship activities and related reflection.

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the
Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications - Strong verbal and written skills
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Experience or interest in developing analytic skills, especially qualitative
- Able to take initiative and work independently
- Personal commitment to creating supportive, welcoming and respectful workplace environment
- Completed their first academic year of college/university level coursework prior to the start of the internship
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in spring and fall 2025.
- May enroll in a maximum of 5 credits during internship
Preferred (Special) Qualifications - Experience (academic or previous work) related to evaluation or applied research
- Career interest in social science, evaluation or applied research
- Career or academic interest in community-based programming
- Career or academic interest in forestry, agriculture, community and family health, and/or youth development
Working Conditions / Work Schedule - The intern will work a maximum of hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks in the summer.
- Housing is not provided
- The primary work location for this position is the OSU Extension Evaluation & Reporting office on OSU's campus in Corvallis, Oregon. However, hybrid work may be considered and established through OSU's Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement
- Typical work schedule is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in an office environment
- This position may include day and overnight travel connected with official duties. Travel will occur with an Extension & Engagement professional, and travel expenses are covered
